I'm getting ready to bottle my 3rd batch of homebrew which is the "Black Rabbit Porter" recipe I found on this site. There is nothing in the recipe about using corn sugar for priming prior to bottling. There was brown sugar in the recipe, is that sufficient? Or is more necessary for the carbonation? Kind of a newbie here and I really don't want bottle bombs!!
Thanks, Sue.

priming sugar
Any Brown Sugar added before or during fermentation will be consumed during the fermentation and prior to bottling. So you'll still need to add priming sugar.

Priming
Those that have been brewing for awhile have already established priming rates with expected CO2 levels and sometimes take it for granted. There are calculators on the web that will tell you how much priming sugar to use based on your beer style/ desired CO2 level. If you need the link just let me know. Back in my bottling days I used 1/2 to 3/4 cup as a standard for a five gallon batch. Just make sure that fermantation is complete. Hope I have been of help.

Yes, I'd love to have the link. Thanks a bunch.

Someone was quick to jump in. That wasn't the site I was refering to but I am sure that there are several good sites that will help.

More and more brewers are converting to weight insted of the measuring cup. Truth be known it is more accurate.
Hope we have helped.
