adjusting recipes ???

Post by brewhaha »

hey all, I was curious that since I am kegging my brew and using a recipe that suggests corn suger for priming, do I still need it , because I am force carbonating my beer in the keg ? should I just go ahead and add the suger to the keg, or boil it in ? or what ???? thanks

Half & Half

I have had good results w/ this method;

Add 1/2 cup of corn sugar dissolved/boiled with 1 cup of water. (per 5 gal keg)

Fill keg, fit lid, and purge oxygen by letting the CO2 in , then releasing the pressure several times.

I then add about 10lbs of pressure just to keep the lid on tight.

Good luck!

No Priming Sugar Needed

I keg it, purge the air, then crank up the pressure to 30 pounds. Also, I charge the keg with the gas on the out tube so it will bubble up through the beer. Shake the keg well every now and then. It should be ready to drink in 1 or 2 days. Be sure to let off the pressue in the keg and tone your regulator down to just a few pounds for serving or you will have a just a foamy glass of head.

Cheers,
