Method for cleaning inside of kegs
Getting ready to clean out a keg that had been nearly empty for a long while, I see there seems ro be a heavy accumulation of crud along the insides of the keg. What is the best way to clean this off without damaging the keg?

Cleaning Kegs
If you do need a brush, a new toilet brush works well. My personal preference is for the kind that's formed in a loop.

Oxyclean
I agree that it the way to go. I do have a small toilet brush that I use to get the stuff in the divit at the bottom. It doesn't take long at all. Just thinking about how long it took me to clean and sanitize bottles makes me wonder why I didn't keg sooner. I really dreaded bottling day.

Ingenious idea
I haven't heard of that idea before, and it sounds great. I'll need to remember that for when I finally get into kegging.
Cheers.

when keg empty..remove lid..attach hose....turn upside down ...rinse out..
Than i turn it over, add sterilizer, and fill up through the out tube...again also rinsing...let it sit for 30.min ....turn over to drain out...than on with water....for a final rinse.....Cap/pressurize/tag "cleaned"
What more would one want ???

Oxyclean is made of one of the 2 ingredients of PBW, so I guess PBW is the stronger cleaner. It has a detergent as well as the percarbonate in Oxyclean.adder31 wrote:I'm in the same boat and was wondering of which produces better results, Oxy or PBW?
You may want to try a more concentrated solution if it's not doing it for you. Oxyclean will be cheaper to use at higher concentrations.
