"Special Roast"--what to plug in?

Post by denverhoo »

I think it would be nice if "Special Roast" was an available malt option. Seems like I use it a lot, and in a bunch of my recipes I substituted "Roasted Barley" which gives a much darker estimated color...lately I've switched to "British Crystal 55L" but that's still not quite right....what do you guys do?

You have some data on what you use?

Hey, you could help me out if you can point me in the right direction to find the stats on the special roast your are using. I will see what I can do to get it added, thanks!

jeff--didn't see your reply. It's from Briess, 50L, here's a link to their product description:http://www.briess.com/pdf/Malthouse%20P ... t%20WK.pdf

It says, useful for nut brown ales and Porters, but my homebrew guys recommended it to me for color in an ESB and I've been using it since.
