Beer Darker than expected

What went wrong? Was this supposed to happen? Should I throw it out? What do I do now?

Beer Darker than expected

I just brewed a gallon batch with 8 lbs 2-row, 1 lb belgian aromatic, 1lb belgian biscuit and 4 oz. chocolate malt. Although I expected around 17 SRM, this came out dark as a porter. OG=1062. Mashed 120 for 30 min, then raised to 150 gradually for 30 min. Normal sparge.

Why would this turn out so dark? I double milled the grain, would that affect the color so significantly?

More than likely, it was the chocolate malt. Chocolate malt color is about 375L, which gets things dark pretty quickly.

You might want to check your grain data base and make sure the colors of your grains match what you are purchasing. I had to change mine to correct this problem.
