Jayhawk - I think we can attribute that to 2 things:
1) Popularity of low-carb diets.
2) The introduction of Mick Ultra.
Remember that most people who consume beer do just that. We are in the minority who appreciate it.
Andy - I reported the recipe for Sam Adams Light in my last homebrew club newsletter. It is as follows:
The ingredients are 12 ounces of Samuel Adams Boston Lager and 6 ounces of pure water. Pour the Boston Lager into a 20-ounce or larger glass and carefully stir in the water. Enjoy. Or not.

Yeah...it seems a little watery, but compared to macro lights its ambrosia. I won't buy it again, because I never buy light beer, but I wouldn't mind brewing a beer that would help reduce the lump above my waist. Slimfast lager anyone??
