Secondary aging

I was told that it is good to leave beer in the secondary for a couple weeks.Is this true for all beers or just the darker ones(imperial stout etc...) Thx

Without getting wordy may I suggest www.howtobrew.com and reading John Palmer's fantastic explanation of fermentation - for all styles of beer.
It's good stuff and it would be a shame to paraphrase it.
