I make most of my beer in a partial mash. I generally make my own recipe from with beer tools and beer smith. When I look up a recipe it often times has DME as the main extract. I would like to use LME because it is cheaper. What is the conversion rate?

When you are purchasing liquid malt extract, you are paying for water! For the money you get more extract per pound with DME than LME.

Besides... using XL DME results in a better tasting beer (no process flavors) and you can produce lighter beers with the correct color value. So it not only is a price issue, it is a quality one as well.
