keg to bottle procedures

Post by BarleyMan »

Alright keggers, help me out... If you are heading to a gathering and want to carry along some of your favorite brew, do any of you have preferred methods for filling a growler or a couple of bottles without wasting a bunch due to foaming? Thanks in advance.

if you don't have a counter pressure bottle filler, just install a length of tubing onto tap, drain all pressure from keg and turn c02 all the way down. Put tubing to bottom of "cold" bottle and slowly increase pressure until beer flows. This will minimise foam as will the cold bottle. It will lose some carbonation but not much. I prefer this method over using my CPBF unless I'm filling alot.

Yeah, this method works well. The thinner the diameter tubing the better. Smaller diameter means less foam.
