Help File

Post by MalcolmMor »

I just upgraded from 1.5 to the latest 2.0. There was no "help File" or subdirectory.

I copied the help directory over from my 1.5 folder with no results.

The help files have been integrated into the OS help topics system. They are still there, but buried in the application bundle files.

But how do I get to them? I have a utility that was able to parse the install executable, but in the root there's a large piece of data named [0] that can't be further opened. I tried reinstalling, but it was no help.

The help menu. The help files are not supposed to be accessed directly.

Ah, there's our disconnect.

This started because I clicked on "help" and got no result. So it's not files that didn't get copied, but that my Help function isn't working.

Yes, that could pose a problem. Here is how the help window should look when you open it on Windows 10:

I downloaded and installed BeerTools Pro 2.0.14 in Windows 7 and tested the help menu. The help topics viewer came up so I am unable to duplicate the problem you are experiencing. Perhaps the issue is with Windows. The name of the program that launches is the Microsoft® HTML Help Executable. More information can be found on the Microsoft developer site:

I downloaded and installed version 2.0.14 and am having the same problem with not being able to access the help files. When I click the "BeerTools Pro Help" menu button nothing happens. I can open the file if I go directly to the file in the Resources folder and open the file directly.

You're using Windows 7?
