Better readability on item descriptions

I find it hard to read the description of certain items when the description is long, I end up adding it to the "My ingredients" so I can then edit and read the description of that item.
I was expecting a few things to happen:
1. mouse over and it would appear a popup with the description
2. double click and I could read the item description (would avoid a new window somehow for this)
3. able to expand vertically the item so I can read the full description
Or maybe there's another way that I haven't found yet?
