Don't Judge

Don't judge me too harshly for what I'm about to say, but I personally like the ruggedness of the dry yeasts. Sometimes I don't know when I am going to be able to brew, so I like the idea of not having to baby the liquid yeasts like you have to do sometimes. As for Lager yeasts, there is one from Au...

Not the $ he charges

I don't even go into that store anymore unless I am really strapped for an ingredient or yeast. The guy doesn't care, and his price is much higher than anywhere else. He charges 2.50 + for dry Munton's yeast. I avoid that place as much as I can!

Brew Clubs

I'm in the Whg/Moundsville area. The Pittsburgh one would probably be the closest. There is a growing number of people around here that shop at the 2 small supply stores in the area, but I don't hangout in there enough to meet any of them. lager/steam beer

lager yeast does not have to brew at lower temps. I try to use lager yeast in the winter, and ale yeast when the temps are warmer to "try" to keep the yeasts at their optimal temps. However, there used to be a very popular style, and with homebrewing, is making a comeback, called steam beer...

shape of the glass/vessel

The shape of the glass, or mug etc. does more to make the taste different. Just like with wines, different glasses or mugs make the beer smell, and thus taste different. My wife would rather drink right from the bottle, because she doesn't like the smell of beer. She also prefers the taste of the am...

Hi Paul, I'm new to this forum, but have been brewing for about 4 years now. I doubt if your anal, I couldn't remember anything if I didn't keep track in records. I brew different brews for different season's, and/or moods, so there is a lot of stuff going through this head. Anyway, records are the ...
