that's similar to my plan sloth. I can pre-mill grains measure hops night before and load up the HLT with water. Nice feature with the BCS is I can log into it over the web on my iphone, start the HLT heating when I leave work and mash in when I get home. Figure I could be wrapped up with a mid-week...

Jeff, I'm slowly upgrading my own single tier (brutus 10) over to partial electric. I'll be using electric for the HLT and I've got a very sweet rims tube from brewers hardware. I would def export the beer ml file from beer smith and import into btp. Could be efficiency setting or different grain specs.

I usually mix up a gal extra of star San with distilled water, plus I keep a spray botlle full with the same mixture that I use to spray keg posts, hydrometers etc. Star San mixed with distilled water remains active for a long time. There's a podcast with the five star chemicals guy over at the brew...

There are a few things that could be affecting your reading 1) There are adjustments that you make based on the temperature of your hydrometer sample. If you look on the hydrometer it should tell you the calibration temperature. 2) you had an aggressive boil causing your evaporation rate to increase...
