Re: Giving some new techiniques a whirl.
One thing I tried did not go so well however. I tried whirlpooling and siphoning from the brewpot. In the past I always poured through a funnel and strainer. I liked this new way but I did not really notice any benefit to the whirlpooling. I still ended up with signifigant trub. Perhaps I did not d...

That's great to see. I had no idea that CAMRA had made headway in Japan!

I find these things useful as well. My situation is similar to Jeff's, although I have good tap water these days. But like Jeff, I heat my hot liquor tank and knowing how long I have before I need to have all my grains measured and crushed is quite useful. I'm still waiting for the alarm to tell me ...

Oxiclean...
You can get Oxiclean at Costco if you have one nearby and a membership. Not worth getting the membership for only the Oxiclean.
Personally, I prefer BLC that require a less extensive rinse. You can rinse with cold water. My 2

Re: Aeration
I don't know how everyone else is doing it but I craddle my carboy at a 45 degree angle while sitting and shake the crap out of it after I have pitched my yeast starter. I usually get some wort in the airlock which I rinse. I have tried easyeast and was not very pleased with it. I read it was ready...

The developers are working on an inventory feature. It will allow tracking costs to my knowledge as there are already fields for costs in the ingredients list. (You currently will get a report of cost for your beer if you fill in the cost details for your ingredients.) Not to diss the competition, b...

Old topic with no reply... Your original issue with overcarbonation of lagers can occur because a great deal of CO2 is kept in solution during ferment due to the low temperature ferment. So carbonating based on traditional suggested amounts of priming agent can produce an overcarbonated finished bee...

Re: You can ALREADY use multiple sources of water in BTP
Using the water chemistry table in BTP, you can add and combine as many varieties of water in whatever ratios you want, and BTP will add up the salts for you. The water won't appear on your ingredients list, though, but you could always add the few that you might use to your 'special ingredients' l...

I have to second (or third as I asked for this in a prior post) the request for an alarm. Yes, I have a clock in my brewery, but why bother with a timer when I have a computer connected to some speakers playing tunes while I brew that also happens to be running BTP? This is about requesting things t...

It is also useful to cut water with a proportion of bottled water. This, of course, would require the possibility to use multiple sources of water, including bottled or distilled water. Sorry to create such hassles, but it is a useful thing to be able to do. When I lived on a well, I used Alhambra D...
