I knew I should have bought the cap instead of the stopper.

Would it be a bad idea to tape the thing down?

FG: 1.020 - (as expected)

= 5.9% ABV or did I miss calculate that horribly wrong?

Good to hear, I use Star San as well. It felt like such a waste to be dumping 2.5 gallons just to take a sample. Next time I mix some up I'll keep more.
