Re: Feature Requests

Please post feature requests to this topic. Today you announced a new version; I went to my program to check to see whether I had that current version, considering that I had just downloaded it yesterday, and could find no way to determine what version I have. In other program, when I click on &quo...

Re: Feature Requests

This will probably seem pretty minor, but with many new programs I like to make a hardcopy of the users guide so that I can take it with me to read when I have spare time; I also just prefer to have a hardcopy open next to me when I'm looking at the program screen, rather than jumping back and forth...

I didn't either, but I just got the program and maybe I'm not duplicating the steps. Still trying to find my way around it.

Cooling during fermentation

I'm always striving to improve my brewing, and would like to lower the fermentation temperature of my ales to about 64F/18C, which I understand is the best temp for most. (I know ... there are plenty of brewers making good beer at 72F, etc., but I still want to try the lower temp.) I have a 5-gallon...

THANKS; now I'm planning to plant my hops

I recently posted in a number of different brewing forums trying to find out whether growing hops at home is worthwhile. I'm sorry that I was a bit late in responding to many posts, and some I just never got around to at all. That might have seemed rude and unappreciative on my part, so I want to ex...

Growing Hops -- is it worth the effort?

This past weekend I tilled my garden and am trying to figure out what I'll plant. It's about 5,400 square feet (1/8th acre), so I have plenty of room to do whatever I want; I could expand it even more if necessary. I still have 25 gallons of watermelon juice in my freezer because I haven't had the t...

Help HomeBrewers team beat the MillerTime team

Our "HomeBrewers" team easily beat the "Bud Light USA 2005" team, and I predict that we will catch up to the "MillerTime" team by the end of January '06. Thank you to all homebrewers who joined our international "HomeBrewers" grid-computing team; all homebrewe...

HomeBrewers Team trying to beat the U.S. Army Team

This is an appeal to all homebrewers throughout the WORLD to join our "HomeBrewers" Team by donating your computer's spare time for research. This benefits all of mankind (e.g., medical research). Let's show the entire world that "HomeBrewers are a force to be reckoned with!" :-)...

New 'BrewingEquipment' YahooGroup

I'm a craftbrewer currently in the 'planning and design' stage for a HERMS brewery. I'm a member of many different brewing groups and forums, lurking on most of them due to a lack of time to participate everywhere. I've been doing a lot of web research, and the thought occurred to me that it would b...

You the man! Thanks for all your effort.

You cleared up everything just fine. Very nice of you to spend so much time with me, and I can only hope that there are a few others who have been helped by all of the time that you spent on this.

Thank you VERY much.

Cheers.

Thanks; now I have follow-up questions, please.

You said "... step the yeast culture up one day at a time to 100 ml, 200 ml, 400 ml, 800 ml and finally to 1,000 ml (5 total days of stepping) using a 5 deg. plato hopped wort ... aerate 24 hours a day." 1. Should I start with 100ml, regardless of the size of my yeast sample? E.g., would I...

question about aeration of wort versus starter

First, are you saying that it would be better, if we have a good starter, to not have ANY oxygen at all in the wort? In other words, not only NOT use an airstone in wort, but should we take steps to _avoid_ ANY form of aeration, such as splashing the wort into the fermenter or otherwise causing foam...
