Specifics
I used 18 pounds Amber LME, 1.5 pounds Munich and 1,2 pound Chocolate malt. I also added 1 pound Lt Brown sugar in a 12 gal boil. 1oz Amarillo 60 mins, 1oz for 15 mins, 1 oz just prior to chilling. It came out great, that Amarillo Hop has a good flavor. The OG was 1.068 and the FG was 1.006. I used ...

FG Too Low?
This brings up a good question, maybe you can help me with this. I just did a batch that had an OG of 1.068, the calculator said it should have an FG of 1.016 or so, but it came out like a 1.06! Whay does that mean, how can it get so low when it started out so high? It is pretty strong, tastes great...

All about the money!
It amazes me that people just don't get it. If you normally drink strong pee water, Bud, then switch to BudLight, it takes twice as much, almost, for the same effect! But the beer costs the same! Now, BudLight-Light, or what ever they call it! What is next, beer flavored water?

Does "Low Carb" = Low Alcohol"?
Hi, I am confused, what is up with this low carb thing? Alcohol is actually a Carb, if it is "Low Carb" how can it have any alcohol? Isn't this just beer flavored water?

How long has it fermented?
That is a bit of a high FG, did it ferment and then get stuck? What kind of yeast did you use? You can add more yeast, that won't hurt anything for sure.

How much water evaporates?
I was advised by a long tm brewer that the amount of water is an important part of the OG. Beer tools is calculating based on simple math, but the reality is that if you don't have the same amount of water left, it will be off as in my last batch. I didn't boil it down long enough before adding the ...

It is Fermenting!
Ok, here is what I ended up with, I found another European Ale so I had two of those and one dry yeast that came with a kit. I can tell you this, I did a 10 gallon batch and put it in an old 15 gallon malt extract plastic barrel, within 10 minutes the airlock was already bubbling hard! Looks like it...

Mixing yeast varieties?
Help, I just realized that I somehow recieved 3 different yeast types, 2 whitelabs liquid one dry of another type, all three are different, I am making a big heavy batch of beer so I have been told I need at least 2, but 3 would be better. Will this be ok to mix them? One is a European Ale, a Califo...

I was like everybody when I first started my Homebrew hobby, but being curious, I started hunting a better mousetrap! I found a couple of websites that might help you, they did me, check them out. www.schoville.com...

How much beer do you need to make?
This is the question. When I first started brewing, 6 months ago, I had about a 5 gallon pot but could only boil 3 or it woud boil over. Then, when the beer took longer to ferment and get where I coud drink it, i was upset that my friends and I killed it off in an afternoon! I also switched to egs, ...
