Thanks Mesa!
Thanks for the vote of confidence. This will be a double first brew. My first pumpkin ale and my first 10 gallon boil with the new kettle. I'll let you know in a few weeks how it turns out.

I am very interested in information about brewing with raw pumpking. I read the thread on Wit Beer additions and noticed that you offered this info to anyone that asked. Well, I'm askin'. extract with wyeast
this was an extract kit that I bought from MoreBeer.com. The imperial stout kit comes with 12 lbs light malt extract syrup, 1/2 lb crystal, 1/2 lb dry maltodextrine, 1/2 lb black roasted barley, 1/2 chocolate malt, and 1/3 black patent. I don't have the recipe in front of me so these totals could be...

Imperial Stout S.G. question
I racked an imerial stout Saturday afternoon O.G. 1.080 and the S.G. at racking was 1.036. The target final gravity is 1.024-1.028. Very little activity remains. Should I try to revive the yeast? The primary fermentation was at 68F and I've moved the carbouy to bring it up to 72-74F hoping that this...

harvested yeast from stout for nut brown ale?
Last weekend I brewed an Imperial Stout. O.G. 1.084 (a new high for the BredMakr). Due to an excessive family and friend visitation schedule for the end of this month and early Oct I'm going to stay up all night again this coming saturday to make a nut brown and ipa for general consumption. the impe...

I use hop pellets and I put them in hop sacks. Should the hops be removed prior to chilling the wort? Or, can they be left in the kettle and removed after the chilled wort has been racked to the fermentor?

give it a taste..
I have never made a cream ale or used vanilla beans in the secondary. However, I can tell you to have faith in the beer. Trust your senses of smell and taste. The lack of activity is not alarming. If you had it in the primary and the yeast flocd out and attenuated well then you might not expect so m...

Belgian Special B substitute
I received a pound of what was simply labeled 'Belgian Special B' as a gift from a supply shop that is located in another state. I brewed an excellent Brown Ale using some of this grain and was wondering if there was a good substitute that is more readily available.

good then, bad now
My first batch was in college 14 years ago. I was living with a guy that made beer for one reason: CONSUMPTION of high octane beer. I had never tasted home brew before and I thought the odd flavor was the way it was supposed to be. After a couple of months I decided that I would try a batch for myse...
