Beta forum?

Beta forum? I have access to an Alpha forum and my latest copy is the Alpha version. I was in the original Beta test group but maybe I wasn't included in this round of Beta testing?

Might explain why mine won't exclude uncheck items from the shopping list.

Shopping list - unchecked recipe items

When you uncheck an item in a recipe this item isn't calculated in the recipe or printed in any of the printing functions except for the shopping list. I would have expected that it would also be excluded from the shopping list function as well. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Re: Grain mill

Well I calculated it out and for my partigyle I got a 91% efficiency. If I get a couple more brews in this neighborhood I'll have to assume that it is the mill making the difference. That's an increase of over 10% in efficiency. So at that rate if I brew about 500 gallons it'll pay for the mill. Tha...

re: Grain Mill

I'm still trying to determine if my 3 roller grain mill is increasing my efficiency or what. Prior to getting my own mill I was getting between 77% and 80%. Since I got my own mill going (last two batches) I have had some increase in efficiency. I can't determine the first batch as it was a partigyl...

Re: Grain Mill

I don't believe it would leave you much in the way of husks but I don't know for sure. There is a relatively popular mill on the market very similar to this. You need the grain husks to be intact as much as possible while still cracking the the grain into small pieces but not flour. These husks from...

RE: Grain Mill

What's your idea of inexpensive? I recently got a Monster Mill MM-3 but I wouldn't call it inexpensive. But for what I got it might be just that. So there are variables to consider, i.e. two roller versus three; large, small, or no hopper; hand crank, drill powered, or motor driven; adjustable or fi...

Re: Exploding Bucket

To continue bfabre's suggestion you can have a return line from the bottom of the second bucket back to the primary fermenter and into the wort. Elevate this second bucket above the primary fermenter and you have a Burton Union system. They work great with minimal beer loss.

Request a new "Stage" for the ingredients list

Not a bad idea. While on this topic what determines the available stages for an ingredient? You know how homebrewers are, they like to experiment. So maybe I would like to add some Honey to the secondary instead of the boil kettle. Not with the available stage options. I'd have to add a note to that...

Stepped decoction mash

As something possibly for this or a future release. At least I can't see how to do it in the current alpha. I would like to setup a stepped decoction mash as described in the Classic Beer Style Series #9 Bock. It's where you mash-in to about 100F then the first decoction is stepped to rests at 127F,...

Setting up a Batch Sparge Schedule

I've been fairly successful at using the mash schedule. What I've been trying to do lately is setup the various schedules (fly or batch at various rest temperatures, times, and steps) as templates and then loading the appropriate template for the new recipe or change to an old recipe. It works prett...

File name change during save

I've recently had a couple new files names change from what I had put in to an existing file name in a different subdirectory. I haven't been able to duplicate this consistently so I thought I'd post to see if anyone else has had a similiar experience.

reiterative mashing

I read the article and it's almost exactly like a partigyle I'm preparing to do for a Scotch and Scottish ales. I've done a bit of research several months ago on how to calculate the anticipated gravities and created a spreadsheet. Someone else had done most of the experimentation already. Now if I ...

Re: How long will beer be good in a keg?

I'm somewhat new to kegging but I have kegs of beer that are from a month to 10+ months old. I don't see why there would be any reason that a keg beer wouldn't be good (without tapping) as long as any bottled beer so long as the seals are good. I know of a few homebrewers that have Barleywines and I...

My Ingredients and Water Chemistry

I'm not sure if it was intended but if you move(copy) a mineral from the Mineral Salts in the Ingredient DB to My Ingredients - Mineral Salts it will have a duplicate entry in the Water Chemistry panel's Water Component Browser. The same goes for water profiles respectfully. I'm not sure if you coul...
