Christmas Loot?
I scored a propane turkey fryer with a stainless steel pot from the wife. Very cool. Anyone get any interesting brewing gear this year?

I can see that
That's funny. Kind of a homebrewer's version of the pulled-over-for-a-look-under-the-hood stories I always see on a Corvette board I frequent.

No Problems Here
I shook my CA ale tube and it fizzed badly when I opened it. I lost at least half the yeast to the floor, but I still had a very short lag time. No problems here. It was a very fresh tube used in an ideal temperature, by the way.

Low Carb Diets
Jayhawk - I think we can attribute that to 2 things: 1) Popularity of low-carb diets. 2) The introduction of Mick Ultra. Remember that most people who consume beer do just that. We are in the minority who appreciate it. Andy - I reported the recipe for Sam Adams Light in my last homebrew club newsle...

Stock Ale = Boston Ale
Paul, You are correct, they started with 2 beers. Boston Lager was the first and Boston Ale was the second. (Check their website.) It is the same as what you are referring to as Stock Ale. Where I live we have Boston Lager and Ale, but nothing called Stock Ale. Is it sold as Stock Ale where you live...

Wine
Paul, Your friends are right. I do not drink much wine, but my family sure does. I make the Wine Art kits. The cost is $45 for a kit and it makes 30 750Ml bottles. It is pretty good too. Sure beats paying $10+ per bottle at the liquor store! And it is easy! No boiling required. Just throw the concen...

Another Opportunity
Stefan,
Good point. I hate seeing good buildings go to waste. The house across the street from mine is for sale for about the same price. Will someone please turn it into a brewpub? I promise to be a regular customer and bring all my friends. Contact me for more information.

Ford

Warning!
Bill/Paul, It's a good thing you wrote. Your homebrew may be endangering your health. Send me samples immediately for testing. If I am unable to complete my testing with the quantities provided, I will request more specimens, so please do not stop brewing. A full, scientific report will be forthcomi...

What I Use
My favs (extract brewer):
20*L Crystal Malt
Chocolate Malt
Cara-Pils
A little wheat always helps head retention.
I hope that helps. Good luck!

Not an APA
It's definitely not an APA as it is not brewed with American hops. It is also unlike any pale ale I have had. Is "stock ale" really a style? Thanks for the tip; for those interested, the following is from their website (www.samadams.com): Taste the combination of spicy bitterness and an ea...

In what category is Boston Ale?
I really enjoy Sam Adams' Boston Ale. I was wondering what style of ale this is. I would like to try brewing something like this. Can anyone tell me?
