thanks bill,
i live in the mountains of utah (where home brewing is still technically illegal - a bill passed the house this season, but was killed in the senate)
i'll check it out.

thanks rob,
no, they don't have galena, but they do have chinook (listed as a sub), which i have used before. i'm not sure how they will do in my obsidian clone. anyone have any thoughts on that?
thanks again, i'll need to figure out what i want for an order.

i like the idea, of having a place to chart the progress of the fermentation. i would like to be able to do something with it though. i love graphs, so it would be nice to have various fields to enter the info into (date, time, sg, temperature, etc). then have the abillity to generate graphs based o...

bill, i know your frustration. though i also know where jeff is coming from. with the understanding that btp is really a part-time job for jeff (i suspect for lathe too), it is understandable that he cannot always respond in a timely manner to any and all issues that turn up. i don't know if jeff ha...

since the mash water of the second mash, is actually the wort from the first mash, the efficency went down in most of the experiments. however, water chemistry seems to play a role in this. he was working with making high gravity beers that looked like pilsners. what seems to happen is that the calc...

reiterative mashing
anyone read the december byo? chris colby has developed a new technique for making really big beers. i was trying this weekend to set this up in btp 1.1.0.8.a and couldn't figure out how to do it. anyone else try this? can it even be done?

i think that i use the same one that you are talking about. i have no problems with it. one piece of advice is to take the new pot (or clean it like new), and stick it into the oven at low temp for a few hours. this will build up an oxide layer on the inside of the pot, and help protect both the pot...

force carbonation
i force carbonate with co2. my beers are drinkable after 1-2 weeks. however, as lw says, the beer is much better if i let it sit for a while.

phpBB
hi bill, this forum uses phpbb code (free software from php group). i recognize it because my forum [shameless plug] justddbrains.com[/shameless plug]uses the same software. it sounds like jeff has installed most of the available anti-spamming hacks that are available and made one or two of his own....

hey thanks!
reading this thread made me realize my recent cloudiness problem. i had switched to swishing my ic around to chill my wort faster. then when the wort reaches 70F i dump into my fermenter, maximizing the splash for oxygenation. my understanding was that faster chilling improves cold break, and result...

re: no carbonation.
just because i can't think of another solution...... are the caps on tight? not meant to offend. if you are using twisty bottles, it is possible to get a bad seal. this can even happen with pop topers. sometimes i let my son help with bottling, and i go and re-clench all the bottles after he goes ba...
