Ooh, my advice is don't do it
I had a fermentation go out of temperature range and the result was a very unpleasant tangy beer. Now, mind you I was 5 degrees Centigrade out of the recommended temperature range, so that could have impacted greater on the resulting beer then what you are talking about, but still...ooh. Having said...

Good for beginers
I have been using the yeast now almost exclusively for my ales with really great beer as the result. It is cheap, easy to use and for me, really easy to get as it is the only yeast the (wine-making) shop here in town sells for brewing. I recommend it for anyone new to brewing who wants to just take ...

Question on diacetyl
How do you determine exact diacetyl level in your beer in order to know when enough is enough? Guessing is fine for the moment, but I have an overwhelming need to know the science.

Someone will disagree, I am sure, but...
I have had very good turn around time using the dry Cooper's yeast. I know that many will tell me that I am crazy but I have made some excellent beer with this yeast. The beer is usually ready to carbonate within 12 days and has worked for me in bitters/porter/and in an alt beer recipe.

I didn't forget/just still don't know
Sorry for the lapse but some rude individual has signed out the book with the information we need. Get back to you soon. If it helps, I believe that the info is in one of the books by Dave Miller.

No Visa=No Gold
Not really a matter of the software, but the access to it. I have no Visa and WILL NOT get one. I really want a gold membership so how about a billing address?

on the subject of the yeast
I like the menu idea for yeast selection and the proerties of the yeast but would still want to get a recommendation from the tools as to which yeast would be best for the style.

instant access to changes
I would like to see the calculator show changes instantly as I input the numbers, only because I don't have much time in a day to spend on the computer. I think that I am refering to a meter such as if I was using Corel Photo Shop. When I change the brightness setting, I can see the percentage chang...

filters and what I don't know yet
Hey, you reminded me about a filter system for corny kegs I read about in a book a few months ago. It is hooked up between two kegs and then counter-flow feeds the beer through it. I know that it is manufactured in Hamilton, Ontario but I don't know the name of it. I will go to the library and see i...

Condition vs. head retention
If a strong head is important to you, then perhaps making the move to a keg system will be your solution. Force carbonation was the answer to my dreams of foamy beer! As KBrau pointed out, wheat malt will help with the head retention. I have added it to all my all-grain batches even when the recipe ...

tough call
I think that if you are old enough to die for your country, you should also be old enough to have a brew so you can relax from your responsibility. Having said that though, I have always felt that the age for driving a vehicle should be raised to 21.

Hey Freon12
Looks like the wheat will be the first lager I brew. I have had to hold off due to a lack of appropriate yeast. I have a Bohemian lager yeast from Wyeast now. Do you think that it will work or should I wait? Anyway, looking forward to letting you know about the results. Thanks for the tip. In the me...

FYI on primary bucket
I used a pumpable racking cane to transfer the beer from my primary to the secondary fermenting vessel. After breaking the neck on two of these babies I drilled a hole about an inch off the bottom of my plastic primary and inserted a plastic tap. This also saves me having to thoroughly disinfect the...

I read the book by John Palmer as well as a 4 other books on brewing. When I had a question I used google search on the web and I filtered through the pages of results. I found this discussion forum and that helped heaps too. I found that the best progress to my brewing came from my mistakes. Everyt...

Temperature Control - ( I got a new beer fridge!)?
Hey wowie zowie, I just added a 20 cubic foot glass door beer fridge with temperature control to my arsenal. What are my first steps in temperature controlled fermentation? I have 5 corny kegs now, the fridge, and I feel ready for Lager. Any ideas. Oh, by the way, thanks to all who have led me to th...
