If your airlock stopped showing signs of activity, I would take a hydrometer reading to see if it is done fermenting. This will take the guess work out of the worrying. If you don't have one, I would'nt worry too much. Let it set in primary for 10 days (give or take) and bottle it. If it was bubblin...

I was kinda hoping for some kind of reply. I too was curious about doing something similar while Homebrewing this weekend. I have been using 2 row Briess highly modified malt and still have a little chill haze that must be, I'm guessing, do to a lack of a protein rest. I usually do a single infusion...

Re: Yeah, I've f&*$%ed up too
I am by nature a clutz. Then there was the time during a brew session in the middle of a cold Nebraska winter. I thought surely that because the temperature was so cold I didn't need a flingin' flangin' chiller. I just thought that I would keave it outside. Shouldn't take more than a couple hours. ...

I'm pretty much in agreement with the RL. (I'm of German decent) Though it might have been a marketing ploy, it kept folks from putting ad-Junks in their beers and besides they prolly had issues with spoilage that were of concern, maybe some hangovers from corn or rice and knew that. I try to keep t...

This is great information... #1. I have always added my first hopping after I have gotten the hot break to be skimmed off by me then added my first hop addition after a vigorous boil and that starts my 60 minute boil time schedule (and reduces the chance of a boilover). #2. I have found that even wi...

jcassidy, If you don't have a wort chiller, it's time my man! Either one will do if you have a ball valve for a CFC, maybe go there. If you have a converted keg with a ball valve, I'd still think about a immersion chiller for the break material and maybe add a short home made CFC later. If you have ...

Re: Priming with honey
For five gallons how much honey would I need to carbonate? It would be for a low gravity cream ale. Thanks. Somehow I got lost and did'nt even come close to responding to your origional question in the above reply. I basically abandoned the use of honey unless I am doing a Honey Wheat or similar st...

Re: I would not use it raw.
C, Raw honey contains a relativly large amount of bacteria. Adding this directly to your finished beer may spoil the batch. If honey is to be added it should be in the kettle during or just after boil. If you really want to add honey on the cold side you need to do what the Mead makers do. They eth...

Any Homebrewing Clubs In WestCentral Ohio?
I'm out here in budlitefriggin ohio and any mention of Homebrewing beer is looked at as if I'm too poor to buy the AB-swill or doing something illegal. Any attempts to convert get bitter beer face responses. HELP!
