Bourbon Beer

I made a Kentucky Porter a while back and all I did was add what equaled to a tsp of bourbon per bottle. Bottle and condition as usual. It came out tasting great! I keep getting requests to make another batch.

Off Flavor No More

I once had a bucket with a spigot too. I took me three batches (in a row) to figure out what the problem was. I had to pour all three of them out because of an infection. Nevertheless, I tossed the bucket and purchased one without a spigot. I never used it anyway. Ever since then I never had a probl...

Imperial Stout ABV is low

That is what I was writing when my computer decide to flush itself. What are you calculations? I know there are other forms to determine ABV but I use this one. Example: OG=1050 - TG=1012 = 38 divide by 7.5 = 5.06% ABV. You know I made a tagy IPA once and it came out rather smooth. I was not thinkin...

Imperial stout

I don't think my stout is going to make it until next year!
You better make another batch quick like. I recomend you listen to slothrob....
make a couple other quick drinking beers right away. That way I have something to distract me while the other beer is aging properly.

As far as the boiling pot, would a 35qt pot be large enough when doing 5gal batches?
Nice size pot I'm still stuck with a 5 gal (20qt). Now that I'm all graining I invested in a converted keg for the boil and my old 5 gal pot is now my hot liquor tank.

I just received a 7.2 cu. ft chest freezer by magic chef and I want to convert it to a kegarator but I need a new temp control. Does anyone have any idea of the right one to get?

Chocolate and Conditioning

Legman has hit the nail on the head. It has been my experience that most of my bottle conditioned beer tasted the best 6-8 weeks after bottling. My very first beer was a very dark dry stout. It took apporx three months of conditioning before it really started coming into its own. Then I let it sit f...

Dark Lager

After you turn the heat off. Right after the boil. That way it is still hot enough to disolve the honey but will not destroy its delicate charm.

Dark Lager

I would try another 0.5 oz of Hallertau or Crystal or make it a full oz. of Mt. Hood. That should give it some more flavor. Right now it sound a little light. But, it all depends on your taste. That's who you are breing for-right! Don't forget to add the honey at flame out!!! Looks like you did a go...
