Re: Never mind; I've figured it out.

Never mind; I've figured it out. I decided to try to complete all three fields to see if the 'Register' button re-activated, and it did. Sorry for wasting your time. Bill Velek Bill, I thought of that the other day when I read your post, but then I thought, Nah, only someone like me would do that! ...

I don't remember getting an email about the beta either. Although just because I don't remember doesn't mean I didn't get one!

Bill, thanks for the offer -- I have most of next month off from school, so I'll spend some time with the alpha version and see if I can't get it to work for my next few recipes. If/When I run into trouble, I'll give you a shout!

This is to me the single biggest fault in BTP, and one that has kept me from using it much at all. Let me say it again, Bill I feel your pain! :(

Version 1.1 is still in Alpha. I'm sure when it goes beta you'll hear about it and then you'll be able to download it. 8)

Great idea. I've noticed that when I get html or pdf files of Beersmith or ProMash recipes, there are sometimes obscure things written in the notes field but no note or memo in the ingredients or procedures sections -- very confusing to say the least, and like you said, easy to miss.

Re: "Print Button" works for me in WinXP; printout

Finally, I think it is important for more than one member to confirm the same problem with software; this lets the developers know whether it is likely to be a genuine issue with the software. I therefore hope that someone else with a Mac system will report if they are having the same problem as yo...

Re: You're right ... I was wrong

Bill, Thanks for your post -- glad you agree. I really didn't mean any disrespect to you -- your dedication to BTP is greatly appreciate! cj After reading your post and giving this some further thought, I have to agree that I was wrong. This would be a good feature and there are a couple of reasons ...

Boy, Bill, you could argue that 90% of what BTP does is available for free elsewhere on the web, including BeerTools.com. I can find hop utilization, grain bill tools, recipe tools, etc if I look hard enough. As for what people might or might not use, you could argue that over half of the recent add...

I wouldn't necessarily call the 1.1 alpha version "unstable." It's more like "unfinished," but I haven't had any stability issues when I've used it -- maybe an occasional unexpected calculation, but certainly not unstable.

Re: I'm not going anywhere ...

First, when I bought the program, it was in what I would have considered at an 'unmarketable' state of development; there were too many bugs, and some very basic features were not even working correctly, like saving files. Fortunately all of that is now behind us, ... but at the outset it was unimp...

There are places that will analyze your beer. I think Fresh Hops and Seibel will do it. Ralph Olsen (Fresh Hops) said on a recent podcast that they charge about $40 for an IBU test. Ralph is at Hop Union, not Freshops. I don't think Freshops does hop analysis, but I'm pretty sure Hop Union will do ...

Bill, I'm in the same boat as you. I never could figure out the mashing schedule no matter what I tried. That was a huge part of my frustration with BTP. I haven't even tried the new version yet -- too busy at work and home, plus I'm not really in the mood to get frustrated again trying to figure ou...

I'm pretty sure that the later versions of BTP require OS 10.3 or higher. To get it to run on 10.2, you'll have to install an older version, I think.

Hopefully Jeff or Lathe will see this and let you know for sure.

Re: Partigyle feature

Not really related to BTP, but if you want information about how to partigyle, check out the Partigyle FAQ over at BrewBoard.
