Price still imported

The thing that upsets me the most is that I am still expected to pay Dublin prices for Canadian beer. I have not purchased a Harp since.

True

Yes, that is true. In the meantime, invaluable, cheap ones are easy to come by that I am hoarding for my upcoming Oktoberfest party to be used as party favors. :) As for steins for my personal use, the hunt begins! Thanks for your help.

Maybe this will help...

Well, I will be an Arkansas hop grower this spring. But, as you guys say, Texas "is like a whole other country." ;) Maybe this link will help you. http://www.freshops.com/ If you click on "Hop Links", you will find a number of other resources that may help. Good luck. Cheers, Ford

Cascade

While multiple varieties of hop vines would be nice, I think I will grow one type for simplicity and uniformity. I think Cascade should provide a good yield and coverage (shade), even the first year. It also shows up in a number of my recipies. :-)

Pics of My Biergarten

My summer project this year was to design and construct a biergarten. Although it has been complete for several months, I just got around to taking some pictures of it today. It could look a little better with green grass, furniture, and vines climbing the lattice, but it is winter here so this will...

Good Point

I will keep that in mind when shopping for a fridge. (I do not think a corny keg will fit in a dorm fridge, so maybe a little larger?) The motor for the jacuzzi tub is on this circuit, but I am not sure what else.

Vent the Heat

I posted this same question in the off-topic area of the Corvette forum and someone suggested putting a metal jacket on the back of the fridge and using a small fan to vent the heat outside. (He had done something similar before with success.) I thought that sounded like a good idea. A low tech solu...

Refrigerator Question

Would it be safe to run an electric fridge in my bedroom closet? I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out. Our master bath has his and her closets. My closet happens to have an electrical outlet. On the other side of the exterior wall is the biergarten I constructed last summer. So if I run a small...

Cool!

Wow, that's a sweet deal. I actually thought of making my own, but then I look at the supposed candle holder I made in grade school and realize my artistic talents never really developed. :-) Maybe I will check a ceramic shop. Thanks for the tip. Where do you get the hardware for the lid? Are they p...

Overpriced

I thought of that and I will probably check them out as we have many flea mark... er, antique malls in this area. However, in my experience nothing is really an antique but everything is priced as such. I frequently see single Grolsch swing-top bottles priced for more than you can buy 2 of them from...

Beer Steins

I understand that collecting beer steins is a somewhat popular hobby. Just search the Internet and you will see many sites devoted to it and many dealers as well. My other hobby, other than homebrewing, is the Corvette hobby. I am among those who feel that the cars were meant to be driven and that i...

All is well here

Son born on the 20th, received an outdoor cooker (turkey fryer) with a SS pot from him and the wife for Christmas on the 25th, tried it out brewing a weizenbock on the 29th. :-) It should be ready by the time my new keg of Irish ale is drained. I plan to hit the brewshop this week for ingredients fo...
