Well got this one figured out. As timmomyces mentioned i was under pitching not just slightly but severely. I also was not paying attention to the date on the yeast i was using. Now with this beer I'm going with a 2L starter and using 2PKS of Bud Var and having no problem getting her down to 1010. H...

I found the source of the contamination. The bag of hops I was using was contaminated. Not sure how it happend. I noticed that the growth would show up after I dry hopped. And it did not matter if I used a hop bag or not. Are you sure this just wasn't a bad batch of hops ?? I have seen hops go bad ...

How much of a honey flavor do you get? Virtually no flavor from the honey as all the sugars got fermented out. But the beer seamed to carbonate quicker and had more of a carbonation bite then typical corn sugar, The type of bite thet burns the tongue a little as it goes down. If your thinking of do...

Spent grains

OK, Was wondering what creative ways all the home brewers out there
have of disposing of spent grains.

For the past 5 yrs I've just putting them into the garbage.

But I've been hearing thet there are other methods and I'd like to here them.

One i did a while ago i used 8oz of honey to prime 5gal of beer. Used it just like you would corn sugar. I mixed 8oz honey with...
