Budweiser American Ale

Every once in a while, a mainstream commercial brew will come out with its attempt at a "craft brew", perhaps in an attempt to reach out to the growing niche of pickier drinkers and homebrewers, of which I am both :-) Budweiser American Ale, I don't remember, but I think has been out for s...

so far, so good

Ok, week in the bottle, and I don't think a month in primary damaged it (or not much). Perhaps a bit more yeasty taste, which should go away in few weeks. One thing, the hop aroma (this is pale ale) is noticeable, but does not deliver the great powerful bouqet I get from the best commercial examples...

thanks

thanks for all the info; its been bottled now for about 4 days. Generally I know its best to wait about 2 weeks, but knowing me, in a couple more days I'll be taking a "sample", so then I'll know if there is anything grievously out-of-kilter with it. If so, I'll let y'all know so as to avo...

Under tank Aquarium heater

I've had similar ideas, but for an under tank aquarium heater designed for an aquarium rather than for reptiles, since these supposedly automatically regulate the temperature of a fluid. Check out this link: http://www.amazon.com/Hydor-HEATER-Aquarium-Heater-Watts/dp/B0006JLPFE This product, if you ...

thanks for the input. Not sure of the OG... broke my hydrometer some time back :-( however, beertools calculator tells me should finish at 5.5% with the extract I used, so figure moderately high gravity. It is an ale, but a pale ale, not lager. I hope that complex fruity ale taste kinda masks any ye...

A month in the primary... way too long?

Ok, I know there is different opinions on this. I usually try to bottle from the primary (don't yet own a secondary container) after 2 weeks, or at least before 3. Had some things going on last weekend, and the week before, and so here I am pushing four weeks when I might bottle. Its such a chore so...

oops... posted prematurely. Anyway, I returned home, armed with my Safale, wondering about this supposed "infection". Actually, a bit on internet research told me there was one other recall, back in '09 I think. And, from what I gathered on other brewing message boards, it is NOT supposed ...

Nottingham yeast RECALLED... what the...

okay, so I found out this little bit of information just this morning after I made an 'emergency' trip for an extra packet of yeast. I was up late last night, on a complicated extract recipe for what surely could be a kick butt brown (might even name it that if it works out :-) Pitched my packet of ...

I thought the current show was neat, again. Instructional, if someone were just starting out. I was wondering too, are you going to get into more of the technical kind of details as the show progresses, like different kinds of yeasts, fermentation temperture, different specialty grains and how to us...

My favorite beer... Ohh, boy... dude, thats like asking what my favorite kind of girl is, where to start? I mean, you got yer blondes, reds, dark and exotic, pale and bubbly, pleasantly stout, slender and tall... oops, right, we're talking about beer :-) All depends, but some styles seem advanced en...

helios

I just tried Helios Ale the other day, from Victory Brewing Co. I guess techinically this is a Belgian style beer. The taste was very complex to my palate, fruity, and definitely citrusey... likely from the hops. This was hopped more like an IPA, and strong too. Well, look forward to the next episod...

Another interesting show. I look forward to seeing what recipe you use in your brew for the next show, and how it turns out.

As for the stout... too hoppy huh? yup, I guess I've been there a few times too, I like my stout on the malty side.

I also got started out using Mr. Beer. I got it for christmas couple years ago. It was neat, with the cute little labeled malt cans and different recipes you can follow. And at least it gets you acquianted with the basic process. I found out really quick, however, how un-economic it is to use the Mr...

thanks fellas, I just looked it up and saw you can buy a bunch of paint bags at a time for like 5 bucks, good idea so long as its made out of appropriate material (it needs to take the heat after all). I do own a large cooler, unfortunately doesn't have a spigot. I'll probably pick one up at some po...
