BTP Running Linux Mint 21 saved to desktop
Hi guys. I'm now running a Linux Mint 21 version of BTP & have saved the programme to my desktop but noticed the icon has a lock on the bottom right corner. When I click on the icon to open the software, I have to manually enter my name & registration key to access. Can someone point me in t...

Recipe Creation
Hi brewers. When you guys are creating a recipe & setting up all your inputs for the brew day, the three tabs that say Volume, efficiency, info, do you guys set efficiency as mash efficiency or brewhouse efficiency? I've got some real world figures from my last brew & it's basically spot on ...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
I believe my boil off was spot on so I'm assuming I ended up with less wort to the fermenter & more trub. In that case I would just subtract the difference from the volume adjustment you have set up for trub losses. Unfortunately, there is no automatic way to do this but the math is pretty simp...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
To narrow down where the loss is, do you know your chilled wort volume? Did it hit the predicted volume? I ended up with the correct volume post boil but never quite got down to 20deg when chilling so I transferred to the fermenter. I'm fermenting in a 50lt sanke keg so I have no volume markings, j...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Just to dial my number in a bit more precisely, how do I go about correcting my actual volume of finished beer into the consumption keg. I fell a little short in volume into the keg by roughly 1.5-2litres. Does that amount need to be calculated in my trub loss which is where I assume it went. For ex...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Thanks jeff. With those couple of changes & looking at the new expected figures, I'm pretty confident I'll be bang on my numbers next time. My Lager has been brewing for just over 2 weeks @12degC. I've completed a diacetyl rest on Sunday for 48hrs then dropped temp back to 12degC for another wee...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
I finally managed to get a brew done yesterday, a St. Louis Lager. It was my first time brewing with the urn for over 18 months so I was expecting some dramas along the way. I ended up with 2L too much pre-boil so I changed my grain absorption rate from 0.96 to 0.60, this should get me pretty close ...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Thanks Jeff. I forgot to mention those preference settings. For brew in a bag, mine are set to 0.75L/Kg & 0.96L/Kg respectively. ( Recipe file I sent to you ) For traditional 3V brewing, it is the same as you, 0.75L/Kg & 1.0L/KG. I'll post my results back here when I do a brew in a bag, full...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Sorry Jeff, I sent you the wrong file but this one will do anyway. In the collected column is 26.53L. This will be Kettle volume @100degC 26.96L. My preboil I assume is 26.53L after my sparge or the same without the sparge. I think I'm working it out now. If I was to do a full volume mash, no sparge...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Hi Jeff.
I have saved the recipe to a folder on my computer but cannot seem to work out how to send it to you via your profile contact. Do you have a personal email I can send it to.
cheers,
Brian

Re: Pilsner Mashing Times
You can make a great pilsner with a 60 minute single-infusion mash. Pilsner malt is high in enzymes because it is lightly kilned and tends to convert very easily. Some brewers might choose to mash longer to try and sqeeze a little more efficiency out of the mash, since Pilsners are often mashed at ...

Re: Pre-boil Volume
Thanks Jeff. I'm trying to work out which kettle volume is my pre-boil after sparge if I do one. On the main page, you have the columns Kettle volume@100degC 26.96L Boil duration 1hr Water added @20degC 0.0L Evap/Hour @100degC 3.0L Final volume @20degC 23.0L Or when I open the schedule page, I see 2...

Pre-boil Volume
Hi guys.
Just to clarify, if I am doing a sparge, in BTP, is my pre-boil volume the kettle volume 26.96L @100degC or is it 25.94L in my schedule tab that's in vessel column.
Batch is,
23L
Boil off, 3L/h
Trub loss, 3L
Cheers
