Hi Bill, The one that was damaged the most (Sterling) is sprouting again, but it looks like there are some new leave sprouts coming out too. The Mt. Hood has all kinds of new leave sprouts. Overall, I think Hops are very resilient plants..... I need to stick a post on the yahoo group once I can get ...

The ones on my work porch started faster then slowed down once they got to 8-9'. The ones at home got going slow since they missed out on several hours of evening sun a day until they got up over the fence. Then they took off. I will have 15' tall bines by the end of August I bet. I would have him c...

My potted rhizomes in CO.... What I did.
My little experiment is going rather well except for a hail storm a couple days ago. It stripped off all of the leaves from the two here at work. Does anyone know it they will re leaf? I'm hoping it doesn't kill the rhizomes, they were strong plants. My setup is wood planter pots that hold almo...

It is the famed octopi fermentation unit - ancient Chinese secret. I will toss a pic of the whole table top if I can find it, there was two more carboys to the right of that. An Anchor Steam copy and a honey wheat. That picture was taken on Monday, so it has mellowed a bunch since then. I ...

APA hops test, gravity
So after setting in the primary jugs for a week, I transferred them into secondary jugs today. I took the SG of all 4 and got some strange readings. First off, I busted my hydrometer as I was going to get the OG when pitching the yeast, so I don't have that reading.... Best estimate is 1.045 Cascade...

Check with the local ink jet cartridge refill place, they have access to different types of inks. If I'm not mistaken, they do have water proof inks. I'll be checking on this one myself..... The boss's wife has an ink jet refill business. I made my labels on MS Publisher. http://i58.photobucket.com/...

I thought I would resurrect this to add/ask a couple things. In the auto world, we use the electric coils and temp controls for making hot tanks to clean parts. We use a false bottom to keep parts off the element. How do you guys set the elements up for boiling wort? If I had a choice, I would use g...

Here you go, these guys are the cheapest on the net for plastic filter housings. I use these anywhere from water filtering in our company house (little town w/ bad pipes) to fish tank filters. For the price, you can't go wrong. http://www.globalindustrial.com/gcs/prod/30129897/i/productInfo.web Payb...

Wow, awesome. That is a much better idea, sounds pretty fun too. After doing a bunch more research, I decided to boil each one in 1 gallon batches using 1/2 oz of the bittering hops at 30-45 minutes on the first trial and then taste the next round. I'm using 1.25 # of LME - lite or wheat, haven't de...

That's what happens when you scavenge trans fill Nitrogen and CO2 setups for paintball, paintball cylinder attachment and welding stuff. I have a whole drawer of brass fittings..... Thing is, I had all of this and it didn't cost me anything out of pocket to do. It's always cheaper the second time ar...
