thanks for the notes, guys, much appreciated! Yeah I'm thinking my crush might have got a little too fine this time around, some of it had piled up in the bucket and was getting pulled into the bottom of the rollers. But I was hand cranking and I knew the sound was off so I corrected that rather qui...

efficiency, efficiency, efficiency!

'sung' to the tune of Steve Ballmer's "developers, developers, developers!" Hi all-- I'm getting some wacked out efficiency numbers. Two brews ago it came out around 63%...and then this weekend I did a Munich Dunkel...came out around 88%! wtf? My equipment: rather simple... Polarware kettl...

and another follow-up

wow, this beer really came out great. I think the original problem I had with low mash yield was my lackluster (read: crappy) sparging technique which I've since fixed in a couple beers since this one was brewed. Some more notes on the Wyeast 1010: early on, the beer was very tart, very interesting ...

well just as a followup, I racked the beer last week and now it's been cooling its proverbial jets in the secondary since then. looks good, but boy, between trub and blowoff i've lost a fair amount of volume. next time, i'll definitely go with my 7 gal bucket and leave the hi-tech Better Bottle for ...

wow, Wyeast 1010 is a gusher

ok so I put an American wheat into the fermenter (better brew 6 gal) this Saturday and it looks like a science project... I think i've lost about 1/2 gal of beer! what's interesting to me was that my mash efficiency was on the low side, and I didn't think there was that much sugar in the wort. oh we...

crash coming from online window

Hi-- I seem to be having a crash occurring in BTP 1.5.1 when I have accessed the online window (in particular My Recipes) and then close the online window or the newly opened window without doing a logout first. I believe this was mentioned in an earlier thread but supposedly it was fixed (?) ... Th...
