I am going to be doing my first taste of my most recent Mack and Jacks African Amber clone tonight, same basic recipe as last time with some hops tweaks(used some NZ hops) Next up on the sched is possibly a wheat/heffe of some type and then back to the IPA's I always seem to come back to. Planning o...

New Zealand Hops in Calculator

Not sure if this si something I need to email an admin about or not but I wanted to see if it was possible to get some of the New Zealand hops that are currently available added to the drop down menu in the recipe calculator. I use the Green Bullet, NZ Hallertau(Pacifica) and Riwaka in my brews as t...

Yah the pellets dissolve, the 2 oz currently dryhopping for me dissolved after 24 hours and are kinda mixed with the leaf hops at the top and bottom of my carboy. they usually completely settle after about a week, leaf hops take a little longer, but I am dry hopping this batch for 3-4 weeks so basic...

From my experiences when using pellets they do dissolve and if you dry hop for at least a weak tend to settle to the bottom making it easy to keep it clear as long as you are careful with your siphon. I added and ounce of NZ cascade whole hops, 1 oz of centennial pellets and 1 oz of american cascade...

I have dry hopped with pellets and whole hops and always just add them straight to secondary without a bag. When I do a long dry hop, i.e. 3 weeks or more the whole flowers will eventually become saturated enough to sink. Pellets always end up sinking about a week after addition. Tomorrow I will be ...

What are you trying to acheive by using a lager yeast, naturally an IPA is just that, a pale Ale, not that you cant make a strong hoppy lager....in the end I dont see there being too many recipe changes as much as how you brew and ferment the recipe.

I have used Green Bullet and am currently using a NZ Cascade for dry hopping a Mac & Jacks clone. The bullet was used for bittering but can also be used for aroma if you like, worked very well and I liked the outcome wasn't too bitter considering the high AA and did have a slight fruityness to i...

Kegged an IPA about 5 days ago that was a close facsimile to the Sierra Nevada Anniversary Ale(same ingredients, close original and final gravities). Waiting another 3-5 days to really enoy it but did a taster last night and it was very good. About to get the ingredients to attempt a Mac & Jacks...
