Its looking good after the soak. I rinsed and then gave it a good once over with barkeepers and a stiff plastic scrub brush (no SOS :lol: ) Now I just have to pick up a step drill bit and order a weldless ball valve setup.

I have done it 2 ways, I have used the valve at the bottom and also used my auto-syphon. Both times I put a muslim grain/dry hop bag at the end going into the keg. Well, you live you learn. So after the Oxy soak I will give it a good cleaning with Bar Keepers, using a sponge, not SOS :)

i gave it a good scrub with an SOS pad and that took off the dried stuck on layer. I have it soaking in a strong oxy clean solution, will let it sit for a few days and see where we are then. thanks for the input.

not sure about the growth, got it in a deal for a kegerator so who knows what it has been through. I am converting it into a kettle and have the top off. will try the oxy clean method and let u know.

I'm in the same boat and was wondering of which produces better results, Oxy or PBW?

I tried PBW, let it soak in warm water for a half an hour, didnt do much. Longer soak next time or go with Oxy clean???
