Great Idea! I've had those ideas before, and have been disappointed to find out I was just to late! It works great too, one of the reasons I decided to home brew.

Re: USPS

I talked to my local office, their response: 1. The box cannot have any label showing alcohol, so don't use a beer box 2. Make sure that the containers are sealed inside so that if one leaks it doesn't create a hazmat situation. They didn't mention any other laws or regulations prohibiting the ship...

The circles go by how many posts you have, just as the name above it. There is a rule to follow when everything has been followed and all there is to do is wait. RDWHAHB

Pellets in mine floated and slowly started dropping. The time I used whole hops, they stayed on top in the scondary. I have used hop bags for dry hopping and it is a lot easier to remove that way.

Re: still good

As long as you store your grain in an airtight bin it should last a year for you. You really want to make sure bugs can't get in and the lower the temp you store it the longer it will last. Total agreement. Completely sealed and in a cool dry place, you should have no problem storing it for at leas...

Welcome to the forum and the headache and reward of homebrewing. I love the forum because when I get frustrated or bored or looking for advice, it fills the void. Even if it is just opinions sometimes, it helps in the process. Welcome!

Right now I have three brew stores in my area that I buy from. Since I am only doing 5 gallon batches, the 3 oz limit isn't that big a deal for me, Although I never asked if they have a limit.

I would say it also depends on what type of beer you are making. I know some Holiday ales taste better if they are in the secondary for a few months. It gives all the spices time to infuse into the beer. I would think that heavier beer styles would also take advantage of longer secondary time.
