We have a guy at our beer shop who constantly uses around 1-1 1/2 lbs of rice hulls per batch. In speaking with him he had a stuck sparge also. Now he uses the rice hulls with every batch containing flaked rice, barley, wheat etc. just a precaution. I have used this amount in some batches of mine to...

Just received my starter kit in the mail within the last couple of days. Hadn't had time to get started on it (busy). I can't wait...I went to the beer store and got the four most popular yeasts I use. I can't wait to get started, I'm kinda gitty with excitement. Thanks for getting me started "...

Generator

You had stated this query in the "Brewing Science" section of the forum also. I am in agreement with getting a backup generator. If you live in an area with frequent outages. It is or should be a very good idea to think about saving up on getting one.

I would probably put around 3/4cup of corn sugar into 2 cups water.
3/4 cup is about the standard. I have never had any problem with that measurement. If you go to 1 cup you will end up with over carbonation or "bottle bombs".

Yeast heads unite in a pint!

shaggyt,
WOW! is right, and I do like to know the reason things work the way they work. It will give you more understanding on making better choices in the brewing process.

Legman, you talked me into it. I'm exited.

readings

Take the reading from the 5 gallons. If you take it from the 3 gallons of wort it would be way high like 1.090 or something. If you have the ability try to do full boil.

thoughts

Use the 4" pipe and make some beer towers. After they are put together cover it with gold leaf. They also make silver and copper leaf products too. Would make a dandy addition to addition to anybody kegerator.
