We have a guy at our beer shop who constantly uses around 1-1 1/2 lbs of rice hulls per batch. In speaking with him he had a stuck sparge also. You had stated this query in the "Brewing Science" section of the forum also. I am in agreement with getting a backup generator. If you live in an area with frequent outages. It is or should be a very good idea to think about saving up on getting one.

readings
Take the reading from the 5 gallons. If you take it from the 3 gallons of wort it would be way high like 1.090 or something. If you have the ability try to do full boil.

I used the 50 micron filter bag I told you about last Wednesday. I worked great!!! No trub here. Sanitizing was easy, I just boiled it.

thoughts
Use the 4" pipe and make some beer towers. After they are put together cover it with gold leaf. They also make silver and copper leaf products too. Would make a dandy addition to addition to anybody kegerator.
