Dry or liquid extract
I make most of my beer in a partial mash. I generally make my own recipe from with beer tools and beer smith. When I look up a recipe it often times has DME as the main extract. I would like to use LME because it is cheaper. What is the conversion rate?

burnt taste
I figured the burnt taste was from burning the bag holding the specialty grains. I was concerned with the film on the beer because I suspected an infection. I'm relatively new to brewing beer. I started with malt extract and kits last summer. I'm working on all grain beers now.
