I bought clover honey from the grocery. Will it be sterile enough by adding it to the end of the boil?
What type of flavor should I expect from it?
I am trying to replicate a flavor in a locol brew that is very sweet and distintive. like no other beer I have had. Yummy!

honey
I have learned the ingredient for my favorite local brew is honey. dont know how much of it or any of the other ingredients but I fugured I would make a pale ale and add some honey to it and see how that tastes. Is there anything special about using honey? Will it take a lot longer to ferment?(like ...

krausen into air lock
I just made a sweet milk stout and after 12 hours the krausen has gotten so high it blew the airlock off. I cleaned it and reinstalled it. My question is; is it normal for a high gravity brew like this to do that? My basement is about 70 deg so I am wondering if it may be to warm causing the ferment...

to blend
I think I shall choose to blend to get the level even since it will not cause problems.
I think my next one I will use a splitter and fill both carboys at the same time.

10 Gallon batch question
I just did my first 10 gallon batch(extract) and split it up into two carboys. My problem is that I forgot to remove the hop bag when I was draining the pot, so at the end of the second carboy it recieved a lot of hop residue. Also one carboy got filled a bit higher than the other. When I rack into ...

question about star san and PBW
I recently got my wife into wine making and want to know if I can sanitize with the same products as I use for making beer. I like star san and PBW and it would be nice to use the same for wine and beer. The brew and wine guy isn't familiar with them and recommended something different.

conical
I would also be interested in the usage of a conical. I will be trying a 10 gallon batch soon and having one vessal to ferment seems a lot easier. As far as gas conversion. I have converted cooking equipment from nat to LP before and as far as I know you can use the burner for either or. The differe...

OK I'm gonna try it
I have been buying kits (with steeping grains and hops and all that, not can kits) up until now but I want to backpedal a bit and get a simple extract recipe without steeping grains. I know I know, the grains add alot but I am finding it harder and harder to find time to brew so I want to reduce the...

ales vs. lagers
Lagers seem to be a bit more work than ales it seems to me, but it is done so there must be a benifit. What are the differences.... as in, taste clarity or whatever
