Partial
I do a partial boil and my kettle I use now is about 3-4 gals. I do have larger kettle that needs to be cleaned out and can do about 5 gals I think. But I was thinking of getting a bigger kettle so I could do a full boil and I boil on a propane burner. So my best bet is to get a setup for around 5-6...
Sounds good
But.... I thought you would want to transfer from primary to secondary. I thought that was part of the process to get a cleaner beer? Am I wrong? Like I said I am very new at this and if something makes the process a lot easier I would go for it. I actually looked at it before when I first started b...
Why is this best?
I'm fairly new at brewing at use a bucket for primary and then a carboy for a secondary. What would be the advantages of having a minibrew? Thanks

Who am I?
Not sure if I really know who I am but....... I work for the government in Military Contracting Management on the east coast. And I'm also in the Air Force reserves, where I work on C-5 (big !@# cargo plane) avionics systems i.e. autopilot, instruments, navigation and all test equipment related to m...

Stockpile
My consumption would never slow down! Heaven forbid that ever happen. Might as well put me out of my misery! I'm new at this (4th batch) and I'm ready to bottle an Oatmeal Stout. I should've made this before winter since it taste so good during the cold months. But come the spring and summer I don't...

How long
How long can a homebrew stay in a bottle stored down in a basement? Temps shouldn't get higher than 60-70F during the summer. I've read 6 months or so, is this correct?
Thanks

Still to far
Those places would be nice to attend but again I'm in the Northeast (Massachusetts). I don't think my designated driver would allow me to be under the influence all that way either. She does love me but not that much! I'm sure I can find an event that is closer. But thanks for the info. Getting set ...

Other events
Does anyone know if there's other events around the country (especially the Northeast)? Wish I could also go back to Chicago. Grew up about 2hrs west in a small town (Prophetstown) near Sterling/Rockfalls area. But anyways if someone knows of any such events out my way I would appreciate it! John Ba...
Kegging
I'm going to get a couple of small kegs from a friend and was wondering how much tubing can I use from the keg to tap? My problem is I want to have the keg in a fridge in the basement and run a tube up thru my floor into my kitchen (15 feet approx). Is this practical? My concern of having the fridge...

Freezing here in Massachusetts
I hear you on the cold! I'm suppose to boil outside but the wife went out of town for the day and I took it upon myself to cook in the kitchen. She won't mind the smell as long as I had fun!

Anyone brewing?
Just wondering if anyone besides me was brewing this weekeend? I have a Oatmeal Stout cooking right now and thinking of doing a pre-prohibition style beer that I got from my friendly beer supply store after the stout. Depends on how tired I am! Getting the beer stocked up just got the call for milit...
Bottles
Well I guess I'll stick with my bar bottles and stay away from the twist offs as long as I can. Most of the beer I do buy are in the bar bottles. The only time I like a Corona is when I am floating on my raft in my pool on a hot summer day. I was at a friends house and had a Bud Light and man did it...

Nut Brown
Nut brown ale was bottled a few weeks ago and at the same time a pale ale (which turned out flat read post below week ago or so no luck with shaking) Nut brown is awesome. Had a side by side test with commercial brand and my taster enjoyed mine! Not bad for my 2nd batch (these were from kits not rea...
Clearer
Sorry I wasn't clear in my message. Yes the bottles are twist off with generic caps like you use. I read that you shouldn't use those types of bottles. If any one can explain in a little more detail I would appreciate it. But I now have over a case of empty twist offs (that I thought were not) and w...
