Boiling

you can remove alcohol by boiling post fermentation. You need to force carb though as there will be no yeast to carbonate with.
I can't tell you how long but I can put you in the right direction..

ain't no scientist

by no means am I one. I do know what works though and I do feel you can make repeatable beers time after time. I do 2 beers over and over, 1 is a standard ale and the other a wheat using 1056 and 3333 respectively. They are pretty much identicle every time. I repurchase my yeast every 10-12 batches ...

all the time

I reuse my yeast all the time. For me it is expensive and I like bang for the buck. I store mine in mason jars under "beer" and have had excellent results even after a couple months. I would however suggest a starter. I also use the yeast from primary quite often with no ill effects

past filterer

I used to filter all the time. I gave it up as it really did nothing more than aid clarity. I got over it. I just find the time it takes is not worth the trouble (and expense).

I'm in Greenwood and started my hops last year. The plants grew well but not much crop (1st year) If you want hops rhizomes there is only one place I know of in Canada. Can't get them from the States anymore, noone will ship them across. Send me an email through my site and I'll send you the info. T...

easy

if you don't have a counter pressure bottle filler, just install a length of tubing onto tap, drain all pressure from keg and turn c02 all the way down. Put tubing to bottom of "cold" bottle and slowly increase pressure until beer flows. This will minimise foam as will the cold bottle. It ...

little late

the amount of oxydation caused during and after bottle filling is minimal, I doubt you could tell the difference between one filled normally and one filled with C02. The method of leaving the bottles until some C02 is created by fermenting is...well... you don't want to leave them uncapped that long...

while I seldom if ever do this it is common practice by others. I can't imagine why though. Use one of the many online carbonation calculators to figure the amount of sugar

leave behind????

why leave any of that sweet nectar behind? I'm a die hard, I drain every last bit of wort into my fermenter. Anything in suspension should drop out during primary and the rest during secondary. And Yes, your wort will probably be cloudy going into fermenter. Don't do the paper towel thing again or I...

Welcome to the hole in which you shall pour money. Read everything beer related, I second www.howtobrew.com it is excellent. Work on technique first, boil as much of the wort as you can, you can taste the difference. If you have city water but can't afford bottled or filter system, pour water 2 days...

heating method

rims systems heat the mash by heating the mash liquor directly, usually by pumping liquor through a chamber with an electric element whereas HERMS recirculates the mash liquor through a heat exchanger in the HLT, a softer gentler heating method.

immersion man

I am an immersion man myself. I believe it uses less water as I don't have to clean the inside at all. After use just rinse off and prior to use, toss in boil for last 15 min. I use 10-12 gallons of water to cool 10 gallons of wort to pitch temps. I do however have very cold well water. www.bellybus...
