No, but...
several fellow members of the Foam Rangers have been frequenting BJs since it opened. I understand they are not selling beer brewed there because they are not licensed yet, but are selling beer brewed at other BJs locations. Is that true? I can walk to Two Rows Brewpub if I had to. Their beer is a l...

I'm in Houston
Next time I'm in the Katy area I'll stop by and see you. I live just a couple of miles from DeFalco's, so I don't think you can be my main supplier, but I'm glad to spread the business around a little.
Good luck to you and hope that your store and website are a huge success!

Carastan Malt Substitute?
I have a recipe that calls for Carastan malt which I am not familiar with and my local grain provider can't get. I don't need a lot and I'd rather not buy grain on the internet. Since I don't even know what it is exactly, what would be a good substitute? It's supposed to be 34 l and is 4% of the gra...

Caramelized Malts?
I'm trying to put together my grain bill for a partial mash foreign stout. The full-blown microbrewery recipe calls for 77% pale two-row, 15% comination of three different caramelized malts, 5% roasted barley, 1.5% black malt and 1.5% chocolate malt. Keeping the style in mind, what three caramelized...

Dumb Question #83
Does ESB mean English Special Bitter or English Strong Bitter? Since they are two different styles, I know it has to be specific to one or the other.

Thanks, Billy
I think my sterilization precess was sound, but I'm paranoid. All the books I've read stress the point of cooling wort ASAP. I hope you're right. I've pitched the yeast with some Bru-Vigor and have my fingers crossed. I am going to put togther a checklist immediately. Not just the steps, but also th...

I'm Really Stupid!!!
I guess I should give up homebrewing because I'm always screwing something up. I just brewed my third batch, a Belhaven Scottish Ale clone, extract with a few steeped grains. It smelled so good and tasted so good when I took the SG reading I couldn't stand it! So how did I screw up? I was so (pick o...

Rheingold was my favorite daily drinker back in the old days. I was really sorry to see them go. They knew what they had because if you remember one of their jingles was, "My beer is Rheingold, the dry beer!"

Not Hops, for sure
Based on everything I've seen here, I'm betting is was some sort of adjunct. I guess I'll do a little experimenting.

Dry Beer?
When I was a pup many years ago, there were zillions of independent breweries in the N.E. and some of those brews had a "dry" aftertaste. I can't put any other name or description to it. Similar to the aftertaste on the back of the tongue when you drink a nice dry cabernet. If I'm not tota...
