Re: Synchronizing BTP Between Two PC's

With version 1.0, I carefully synced recipe files between my desktop and laptop by using the date stamps on the files to know which I needed to copy. I was just careful to not modify a recipe on one computer if I knew it had been modified on the other, but not resync-ed. That mild chaos wasn't the s...

This guy had it right. Hey, I thought that quote you posted sounded familiar to me. ;) What I think you are desiring is a temporary way to alter the inventory amounts in the ingredients list as based on the recipes you plan to make. I will give this more thought. It may make sense to add another co...

Re: That's not petty ...

... it is very frustrating to not at least receive a simple acknowledgment There are a lot of things that have come up here that seem to have fallen between the cracks. Sometimes I feel like I/we/all of us should post a reminder or two, but I also don't want to be an asshole about getting things fi...

Fixed!

Cool, Jeff. I literally had just typed the following, and hit the Preview button and noticed your post a second ago. FYI for the archives, the problem discussed in this thread have been fixed in v1.0.20. Thanks, Jeff! I tested it, and it works for me now. Thanks again for fixing this pretty minor, b...

Thanks for looking into this to confirm that I'm not crazy -- or at least, if I am crazy, then I'm not alone! ;) I don't think we want to document the work-around to a bug in the long-term wiki docs. But just in case it still isn't clear to anyone setting up a decoction, in order for the remainder o...

From a message Lathe posted last night, it looks like Inventory and Session recording are being actively worked on, which is really cool! I'd definitely make use of those features, and I look forward to seeing them. I think they will have more appeal to more users than my requested decoction (or tur...

I'm using XP, and it's worse that you describe on my PC. The Ingredient Browser windows does *not* lose focus when I click the Add button. However, it shuffles behind the BTP session window. Press the Tab key a few times and notice which window the "active" button goes through -- the Ingredient Brow...

Re percentages: That wasn't one of my better feature suggestions. It has a lot of whiz bang, but probably not enough usefulness to be worth it. I guess the best feature it would provide is a quick way to drag the mass of a grain higher and lower quickly, but without much usefulness for entering grai...

Re: Just a thought on percentage grists ...

That's what I was thinking. The amounts (in mass) of all of the other grains would remain unchanged, while the amount (in mass) of the one your sliding would go up/down accordingly. That would result in proportionally lower percentages as you increase the slidebar, and higher as you decrease it. Now...

Re: Just a thought on percentage grists ...

Wouldn't it be cool if we could just click the bar graph in the Proportion column, and slide the end right or left to raise/lower the percentage of that grain? Jeff is probably calling me nasty names right now. ;)

Yes, it is a very good article, and attaching the example file was genius! But I read it and loaded your example file before I re-posted my questions. Your sample file has the same problem as mine. Your Mashtun and Decoction Pot vessels' "Heat Transfer Coefficients" aren't as far apart as mine are, ...

Bump -- I want to revisit this unresolved problem, because I'm trying to setup another decoction recipe, and my #1 above is still bugging me. Is it a bug that the vessel becomes the decoction kettle instead of my cooler mash tun for the rest of the mash? Or am I setting up the decoction step incorre...

The good news is that the probe was ruined during the calibration, rather than during a mash. Imagine mashing at 20* cooler than you thought you were -- and yes, I very nearly did that once before I quit using that type of thermometer.

I hate to say it, but I think you have fried the probe wire on your digital thermometer. If you aren't using such a device, then I'm wrong. But if you are, then the steam in the tun has allowed too much moisture to enter the junction where the wire enters the metal probe. Speaking from several insta...

What I've been trying to say is that I think the inventory db and the default delivery db should be totally separate, regarding both the user interface, and possibly (depending on the db's architecture), the internal storage. So, there would be only one Amarillo entry in the delivery database at any...
