Dear giddy
I think you are doing the mother hen thing. Take a new reading in another 24 hrs and see if it is the same. If it is, your done. I assume that you are compensating for tempreture when you are taking hydro reading right? Anyway, the godfather of homebrewing says"Don't worry", worrying only ...

I have a link for you
Ax, I ran out of time to post the other day so I'll do it now. There are pictures of the taps at morebeer.com and the only strange one is the euro "slider" which I use for Paul, and Hacker. The keg has a flat round connection that has a shoulder all the way around with a ball in the middle...

Flask time.
Hi James, I bought a magnetic stirer and a 2000ml flask. From that moment on, I have not had any slow start fermentation problems. I buy the standard Whitelabs vial and add it to DME boiled in the flask. So, yes, the more the merrier (to a point). The number two thing was a stainless diffusser stone...

Tea anyone?
Dom, I like to compare steeping grains to making tea. I would not want to rise extract out of the steeping bag. Of the two choices I'll choose door #2. I wish I could remember the web site for John Palmer. Look for him and check out his basic methods. I still brew like him on most beers. Regards, St...

mash temp.
Dave,
I agree, raise the mash up. I mash at 158f for Fest beer which really brings on the malt.
Check the recipe for carapils, if not, put some in.
Steve
PS. Turkey day here in the US, I'll be taking a nap later and get back to you over the weekend if needed.

Unclebert,
I must know how to make a wine cooler. I am guessing that bottling wine with water and the corn sugar to carbonate?
Details if you please.
This may keep the wife out of my beer stocks.

Imperial talk
C, I do imbibe when it comes to the Decembeer. (clever spelling) A Russian Imperial made for winter at 13% tastes just like an alcoholic chocolate covered cherry mmmmmm.......... Face warming goodness. I don't have the link handy, but I have one recipe and there are several around here also. It take...

Corn sugar?
Hi,
What are you intenting to do with corn sugar? I have never used any ever.
As for the malt, I "go in" with some fellows from the local brewing club and split the bulk skid prices.

Well well well, I have outsmarted myself to the point that it is back to the basics. You my lucky fellow have your system all tuned in with the same water you have been using for years, with the same methods and after you get good result aftergood result, you start to do the auotmatic pilot thing. *...

Duval is it?
C, Due to this beastly new forum format, replys are now at the speed of the US snail mail, and harder to find. How about 7 months later....... I have recultred Duval from a bottle. My fear was that they bottled with a different yeast than the true Duval yeast. It was. I finally got some true ...

Billy- little advise please
Guys(gals too), I have never had this happen before, but here it is: I think I overshot my strike tempreture and hit 158f. This must have deactivated the mash and now that I have lowered the mash temp to 152f. it just will not convert! It has been 4 hrs now and Iodine still says no. Sooo, I ...

Weyermann acidulated malt
Dom, I wanted to know if you have hard water. PH above 7.0. I do and brewing a pale beer is an adventure with hard water. Food grade acid and adcidulated malt (if you are a purist) can lower the PH and also if used in quantity, add to the citris/sour notes described in your wit. I use Weyermann in a...

Hops for wit
Hi, Take a look at some of the recipes listd here on this site and notice that the hops are mild and low AA(German Noble). There is normally only one hop addition and it would be for 60min of the boil. I would like to clarify if you think that there are no spices at all or no spices in the boil. You...

wit beer path
Greetings from the american basement. I have an interest in wit beer and we actually have a beer developed by commitee here called beertools wit. If the beer you seek has no spices, then I must say that the spice flavor must come from the unique yeast that was used. And giving a consideration to the...
