  • 11 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 0.5 lbs American Victory

    American Victory

    Provides a deep golden to brown color. Use in nut brown ales, IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • 1 lbs Crystal Malt 80°L

    Crystal Malt 80°L

    Body and Richness. Distictive Nutty flavor and or sweet, smooth caramel flavor and a red to deep red color. For porters, old ales.

  • 1 oz Cascade -9.1 AA% pellets; boiled 90 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 oz Cascade -5.0 AA% whole; boiled 25 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 oz Willamette -5.0 AA% whole; boiled 3 min

    Willamette

    This hop is used for finishing and dry hopping American and British style ales. Aroma is mild and pleasant ans slightly spicy

    Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

For this Americanized IPA I mashed at 154 degrees for 90 minutes which led to a slightly higher final gravity than I wanted. (too many unfermentable sugars). I'd suggest mashing at 150 degrees for a lighter bodied more alcoholic brew. Original Gravity was 1.060 and the F.G. was 1.018. I used some of my homegrown flavor and aroma hops which gave it a nice fresh hoppy taste. :) I primed with 1 1/4 cups of wheat DME.
