This book is an excellent reference for the homebrewer. It isn't written as a standalone teaching guide, but as a collection of useful information wrapped up in a nice little package. It dovetails nicely with The New Complete Joy of Home Brewing.

This book touches more on the numbers behind the art. If you're the "techie" type (you probably are if your visiting this site) then you will enjoy this publication. There are chapters on each major brewing ingredient, each of which gets into the details of what happens to a given ingredient during the brewing process. Following those chapters, are sections on creating recipes for the major beer styles of the world.
