kegging system recommendation

Post by cyto »

I have been brewing extract recipes for about 6 years and am geting tired of the bottling process. I would like to go to a kegging system, any recommendations? What to avoid?

thanks

How Much $

Post by Sapper »

I've got a fair system at my house.
I can fit 4 corny kegs in the fridge and dispense from 2 of them.

The key is: how much money do you want to spend, how much are you willing to spend, and how much work do you want to do????

There are turnkey systems out there that cost big $$$.
I have built mine over a couple of years.
It grew from a tank and keg in the fridge into the dedicated beer keg fridge I have now.

I don't mind working to put a system together. I can get a corny keg with lines/regulator and empty 5# CO2 tank for $140 from an online seller that I have purchased from before. I have a beer fridge I can put it in. If I build it piece by piece will I end up spending more or will the system I found be a good start?

Good start

That's the equipment you need to start.

You might be able to find it cheaper if you dug around some, but if you are comfortable with the price, the keg, lines, and tank will get you going.

Make sure that you get a regulator for the CO2 tank.

All you need to do after that is a drill and some spare time to build your very own kegerator.

Ebrew.com has a kegging system for $165. A good buy and those guys are great.
