Temp drop in 2nd day of Primary

What went wrong? Was this supposed to happen? Should I throw it out? What do I do now?

Temp drop in 2nd day of Primary

Post by firstbrew »

Everything was chugging along, about 10 hours after
pitching the yeast. I am on my 3rd day of Primary Fermentation
and when checking the temp i was sitting at 60F
it appears that the bubbling have stopped. Could this drastic temp change
cause the ferm to stop ? Or should it start back up when I get the temp back to normal ?
It got pretty cold here the last few days and that is why the temp has dropped, I have taken measures to
assure the temp goes up and remains as steady as possiable.

Thanks for any help, FB.

Rouse 'Em

What was your starting temperature? I'd check the gravity (maybe it's done anyway). If it's not, when you get the room up to temp, rouse the yeast off the bed to wake 'em up. Use a sanitized spoon or shake the carboy to accomplish.
