Priming w/out Corn Sugar
Any recommendations on where I can find corn sugar other than a brew shop. I am going on vacation for 2 weeks and i need to bottle this batch i have, but there is no store open. Can i use anything else with the same effect?
Table Sugar
Just use regular old table sugar in the same amount.
Grocery store
Grocery store, especially one with a bulk food section, should have corn sugar.
No Go
The only thing that I could find was a sweatner that used dextrose as its main ingredient. Figured that was not going to be my best bet, so I went with molasses. Hope that works without adding any off flavors. When I used table sugar a long time ago it seemed to make the beer taste more like hard liquor than anything.
Ummm...
You might have problems with molasses. I primed a porter with some and found it to be quite unpleasent. The molasses lingered for over a year. I actually never finished the batch. You could also use corn syrup to prime the beer. Good luck. I hope you don't have the same molasses issue as I had.
