Melanoidin malt, mash requested?

Is that needed to add half kg of malt extract when brewing with melanoidin (eg), or i can just steep in 65

Mel. malt is sort of a type of light roasted malt (avg. 38 L) that can be used to comprise up to 20% of a grist/extract bill. Since it is only lightly roasted, you don't have to be concerned about the lack of enzymes (I assume this is why you asked since it would be a poor base malt)for conversion, so it can be used in a steep, but if the duration is only 30 minutes, don't count on getting full extraction. It's use in your case will provide more of a color benefit.
