I just brewed a batch of beer that I was intending to steer towards middle of the road, y'know, a crowd pleaser. Here it is, for a 36L batch:
13.5 lb pilsner
7 lb Vienna
0.75 lb wheat
1.5 oz Northern Brewer (60 mins)
1.5 oz Hallertau (15mins)
1.5 oz Hallertau (2 mins)
Looks pretty straightforward eh? Too bad I didn't pay attention to the alphas the my HBS has for these hops: 9% for the Northern Brewer and 6.7% for the Hallertau. His EKG are 7% this year! Anyway, I now have a light beer that is incredibly bitter, with very little malt backbone to hold it up. I was thinking of mixing it into another batch, or perhaps pouring some black and tans etc. Any suggestions?

I did a batch a while back with some unknown hops, turned out to be Tomahawks and WOW!!! un believeably bitter. I have been brewing some low hopped beers and blending this into it to taste with great results. I only have to use about 2 gallons ata time of a 10 gallon batch of literally undrinkable beer. Waste not want not.
